My Work Experience

Teaching and Workplace Training

My first career was as a Primary Teacher – Year 5 and 6.

I moved on to Bookkeeping and Accounting.

Bookkeeping and accounting

  • Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
  • General Ledger
  • Account Reconcilation
  • Sole charge
  • Compliance for an accounting practice

I then used that knowledge to move into a career in Information Technology where I was Implementing, Supporting and Training Mid-Range Accounting Products in New Zealand

  • Travelled New Zealand to Councils (pre-amalgamation) to implement, support and train on local authority systems.
  • Implemented, supported and trained small to medium size businesses for retail, manufacturing, distribution businesses.

For the last period of my career in IT, I was a workplace trainer for SAP – Large Corporate System, where I trained in any of Asset Management, Reporting (BI), Finance, Utilities systems:

  • In New Zealand – Lighting Direct, Carter Holt Harvey, Tauranga City Council and recently Fonterra.
  • In Australia – Rio Tinto, BHP, Queensland Rail, Infrastructure Company, BOM, Spotless, United Energy, SP AusNet, Gold Coast City Council, Sydney Trains, Transport for NSW, Endeavour Energy.

Now, I am putting all of my years of experience and studies together. As a teacher it is only the subject matter and audience that has changed. The science and art of teaching doesn’t leave you.
