When challenged by problems related to neurology of the brain, I step through three main categories of questions:

  1. Is it genetic? Is it epigenetic? (Epigenetics refers to how your behaviours and environment can cause changes that affect the way your genes work. Unlike genetic changes (mutations), epigenetic changes are reversible and do not change the sequence of DNA bases, but they can change how your body reads a DNA sequence)
  2. Is it a chemical imbalance in the brain creating the behaviour or learning difficulties (i.e. related to diet and nutrition)?
  3. Is it related to dysregulation of the autonomic nervous system?

While difficulties with learning and behaviour can be caused by a raft of issues, these three categories of questions may assist you, and at least be worth exploring for your understanding of your person.

Meltdowns, Dsyregulation, Emotional Regulation

Learn about the bio-dynamics of a meltdown and when and how to intervene …

Learn about meltdowns and my research

My objective here is to enable children and teens to learn to manage their meltdowns through knowledge, strategies and breathing practices.  This is to ensure they are in a good state for any learning experience.

Courses for parents, caregivers, teachers, educators and other professionals (STs, OTs) will enable greater knowledge and understanding of meltdowns to intervene with support to deescalate your person or people.

I have a growing collection of Ebooks and Resources to share information and insights – all ages and stages.

The Roadmap to Breaking Through the Meltdown Maze is a series of mini-courses and workshops.
